About Ballater Highland Games 2025
Ballater Highland Games, instituted in 1864, are held annually on the Second Thursday of August, and are know as "The Friendly Games on Royal Deeside."
These are traditional Highland Games, where you will be able to see Highland Dancing competitions, heavy events like Tossing The Caber, Weight Over The Bar, Throwing The Hammer and Tug O' War.
There are athletic events too, with races for all ages, as well as The Hill Race, Long Jump, and Tilt The Bucket.
A spectacle never to be missed are the Combined Pipes and Drums as they march around the arena....creating a sound that is unforgettable!
There are stalls serving food and refreshments, a beer tent, trade stands selling craft items, clothing and traditional gifts etc., a fairground and a Highlanders Clan Display.
Ballater Highland Games is a great day out for all the family at the Monaltrie Park in Ballater, Royal Deeside, AB35 5NN.... in the very Heart of the Cairngorms.
