12:15-1:15pm Cha-Cha with Sonja Heigl
The cha-cha-cha (also called cha-cha), is a dance of Cuban origin. It was originally called the ‘triple mambo’ but renamed the ‘cha cha cha’ due to the sound of the feet on the floor! It is danced to the music of the same name introduced by the Cuban composer and violinist Enrique Jorrin in the early 1950s. This rhythm was developed from the danzón-mambo.
1:30-2:30pm Samba with Kylie Nott
Samba is a fun, upbeat, lively dance that progresses counter-clockwise around the floor. It is characterized by its syncopated timing, bounce, rolling hip action and pelvic tilt and a great deal of rhythm is expressed throughout the torso.
2:45-3:45pm Cuban Salsa With Misael Cordero
Cuban style salsa does not have many fast spins. Instead the movement is very circular as opposed to linear and partners tend to travel around each other. The hip movement is more noticeable in this style and stems from the pumping of the knees.
4-5pm Bachata with Misael Cordero
The Bachata is a playful Latin dance that is typically danced at Salsa and Merengue dance clubs. This style is danced with soft hip motions, turns and side-to-side footwork. The music of Bachata is very recognizable for its predominant use of the electric guitar combined with Caribbean and Latin musical influences.
5:15-6:15pm Tango with Fernando Guidi
The tango is a type of ballroom dance that features improvisation and is set to tango music. This dance, which originated in Argentina and Uruguay, is popular worldwide.
