About Angeliki Giannopoulou, piano
We continue our exploration of Ravel, while also beginning our celebration, over the coming months, of the 75th birthday of Scotland’s greatest living composer, James Dillon. Two of his most beautiful, delicate and charming piano works are offset by comparable tone paintings by Mompou and by Skalkottas’ dazzling pianistic fireworks.
The fascinating programme is completed by masterpieces from Poland, those by Chopin being justly very famous, and that by Bacewicz, only recently rediscovered but of no less weight and power.
