About Climate Change and Gardening with Claire Mitchell, The Garden Editor
An inspiring and motivating look at the science of climate change and what it means for gardeners. Claire covers the science of climate change in accessible terms; the changing temperatures and rain patterns in the area; and what this means in practice for gardens and gardeners. The focus continues with a look at plants for our changing climate, and hints and tips on gardening in a sustainable, climate-friendly way.
Come for knowledge and leave inspired with practical ways to improve your garden, without costing the earth.
The talk will last 45 minutes with 15 minutes of Q&A at the end. Claire will widen the scope to include issues pertinent to a wider audience as we know a lot of our members are not based in the UK.
ABOUT CLAIRE MITCHELL
A trained RHS horticulturalist with a passion for sustainability, I bring gardening into the 21st century in an environmentally-friendly, ethical way. I specialise in bringing the latest on climate-change to life in a non-scary, accessible method. I cover what it means for how we garden and how we can all improve our gardens and green spaces, without costing the earth.
I can help you make links between the actions we take (or don't take), the biodiversity and health of our gardens, and the future of our planet. I cover the science of climate change; what does climate change mean for my garden; how to select sustainable plants; and how to garden in a sustainable way.
Engaging, inspiring and motivating, this is the antidote to panic buying plants at a garden centre when spring arrives, or feeling worried without knowing what to do when hosepipe bans hit.
